A lot of people in Arkansas and other stated don't get married because the mother can get on Medicaid with her children and get free healthcare. They also get money from welfare for each child. They play the system that was created to destroy families and integrity!
This is how it should and must be: give a limited hand up, not a hand out. Stop giving additional benefits to women having more than two children. The first child can be an accident, if you haven’t learned by the second then you need to accept full responsibility.
Wow, shades of the Welfare Reform Act. When Clinton was dragged to the center after a midterm Democrat loss, Gingrich hounded him relentlessly to get welfare reform The results were astounding. So many people were lifted out of poverty. It was similar to what Sarah is proposing. You must, if you are able bodies work, go to school, and basically move toward or start a job. Obama let the Act die. I believe it was in his first month of office.
If we keep rewarding able bodied people for not working, they will not work.
There has always been a work requirement in my state for Medicaid. Vermont. Even the most disabled are expected to to try to do something for several hours a week. The problem with the most disabled is that staff is neccesary to bring them, coach them, push the wheelchair, provide transportation. For the able bodied, it has been a requirement to work part time to maintain their payments. They can find a job easily enough, the issue in a rural state is always transportation, They work as flaggers, cart chasers in supermarkets, at greenhouses, retail stores, etc. Many of them need childcare, so there are centers, which of course are supplemented per child. Now, regarding subsidized childcare, I tend to support it because if you saw the homes some of these littles come from, several hours a day away from the chaos, unstable, morally devoid homes are essential.
I don't think there was a work requirement in my old state, Nevada. But here's the thing. Say you are on free healthcare, if you can't land a job with benefits you are gonna need to make alot of money just to cover your healthcare. This is the poverty trap and if you can't land a job with benefits and need healthcare, well that kinda lends itself to working off the books, or earning only enough to stay on benfits. I'm not sure what the solution is.
I will tell you what I would like to see. Health insurance is actually sick insurance. Think life insurance = death insurance. All these fake things need to go and people just need to take responsibility for their own health. If you need to go to the doctor, pay cash. I do.
Yes I hate insurance. I pay cash. I used to have a catastrophic plan that covered everything over 15k. I never had to use it, but for $80 a month it was worth it. It was very affordable and gave me piece of mind. Obamacare destroyed those plans.
I was thinking maybe the government should insure everything over 10k let's say and you are on your own for the first 10k. I think this could work as you bring the power and accountability back to the consumer. All the resources we waste on administrating, navigating and paying for this confusing health insurance model is just a shame, a collasal waste.

Believe it happens in most states
Unbelievable but some of them play the system. I know that.

I would not want to do shit like that but then, some people are extremely lazy.
You mean there isn't??
There isn't what?
a work requirement.
nope. but even with work requirements, the exemptions available make the requirement a jpke.
Biden has been giving everything to everyone without string attached especially illegals.
This is an ongoing problem in most states. Way to go Sarah.
Bravo Sarah! 👏 Now, EVERY State must do this!
Hey!
Those fully loaded Cadillacs aren't going to pay for themselves ya know!
If the leeches have to work, how will they have time to install and enjoy stadium speakers and hydraulic front suspension lifts?
It's no wonder we have such broken system.
If this shit comes to TN, my mother in law is screwed. Which is good, because her ass needs to work or be a functional part of society.
I love AR and OK. They are just very good and amazing.

Wow. Vermont sounds very sane. Love it.

Not just a shame, it's a SCAM.
Have to exclude those with mental health issues
I don't know if they are or not.
