Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

I’m convinced that’s why God gave us menopause. He knew we were too old to chase after kids all day. I’m glad the kitty found a good home. That’s how I got my cat. Found her in the parking lot at work where all the big trucks park. She wasn’t even six weeks old. She was very sick, didn’t think she would live. Not sure where she came from because the operation center is not close to homes or much of anything. Now she is 15 yrs old and rotten. I love my sweet little girl. ❤️
That’s so sweet that you were able to save the kitty. They are great companions. I love taking to cats, it’s like they know what you are saying. I’ve lived most of my life with a cat. People that don’t understand cats don’t get how affection they are. Oh, I’ll have one again! I just can’t with nervous scared dachshund.
It’s only fair to let the pup live out its life in peace. Now that Bentley has passed. The cat is next in line and I keep the new pup at a distance because he doesn’t understand that she is old and is not wanting to play. She deserves her time to live in peace.
Exactly! I was lucky with the calico I had. The dog came after several years after, she was first. They weren’t pals or anything but got along and played a little bit. She (cat) would be in a room with door closed, stick her paw out. Dog would run to it and away. They did that every day for a little while. We had two recliners, arms touched, one would get in my lap & other on the arm of recliner. Sometimes they both were on arm, not touching. They also chased each other around the house. I could tell the dog missed her when she died. This dog now may be same breed but nothing else is the same.
Yeah I’ve learned that breeds really has nothing to do with it, it’s that dogs personality. We all have our own individual personality and so do they. I tell you girl this new little pup that has come into my life is wearing me out. Been a long time since I’ve had a young dog. All he wants to do is play and bite my fingers. You can’t wear him out. He will chase the ball hours on end. But I wouldn’t trade him for nothing. He needed a good home, and of course I’m gonna give him one. ❤️
