The copilot is not the Pilot in Command (PIC). The Captain is the PIC. The copilot is A/K/A the First Officer, and flies in the right seat. It’s not uncommon to have the FO be a low time pilot, especially in regional airlines. Airlines have minimum standards for hiring pilots covering flight time, instrument time, etc.
I have heard several news reports of the plane slamming into the helicopter, as if the airplane pilot was to blame. To me that appears totally inaccurate when the plane was cleared for landing and the runway was changed at the last minute.
You are right. And now we are hearing the helicopter pilot was a trans. Makes sense after Trump’s revoking DEI and demanding merit based hiring and removal of trans in the military and paying for transitioning. This man was in a rage and decided to take others with him.
There are controls on both sides for pilot and co-pilot in a helicopter of this weight class.
This is Civilian Commercial Helicopter pilot rating requirements not including IFR which is a separate rating. This means a pilot with this qualification can fly YOU on a flight you pay for such as a helo tour of Hawaii

The helicopter was on an approved route for a maximum of 200 feet. In the last moments before impact it climbed almost 200 feet to collide with the aeroplane. The plane was 100% doing what it should have been doing and so was the ATC. No one expected the helicopter to ascend and collide, perhaps not even the helicopter crew.
There seems to be new information out that contradicts earlier reports that a DEI broad was behind the controls of the helicopter… we’ll see. But I’m not inclined to delete my post at the moment, so as not to wipe out the contributions of those who constructively responded.

Are you talking about the jet or the heli? It is irrelevant if you are talking about the jets co-pilot. Everyone on the jet is a murder victim.

You don't need to look at the pilots of the regional jet for blame. They and their passengers were all slaughtered by the negligence of others.

This quote was in reference to the helicopter crew - the Black Hawk pilot in training has now been reported to be a woman.
