Chinese companies are building a bridge across the canal. The partially-completed bridge gives China the ability to block the canal without warning. More than 40% of U.S. container traffic transits the Panama Canal!

make a new boat: a bridge breaker.
We own several fleets of those. US Navy. Hell, a drone could do it.
Time to take it back
I was skeptical about this when DJT first floated the idea, but I'm beginning to come around.
Almost like he knows what the CCP was going to do?
Well to be honest, there is already a bridge across the Canal at the Panama City side, called the Thatcher-Ferry Bridge, and it's been there since the 1950s. It allows traffic from the city and points beyond to cross the Canal into the interior of Panama, and I drove over it probably a thousand times while I was stationed in the US Military there. I'm not sure what strategic value a new bridge would have when the Chinese could simply blow up the existing Thatcher-Ferry Bridge and achieve the same thing.
I think Trump should build a canal along the U.S. Mexico border. Think of how much money the U.S. would make, and it would be an impenetrable barrier between Mexico and U.S.
How hard would it be with today's technology and digging equipment.
