Elon, look into the 1973 NPRC fire that destroyed the records of servicemen
🧐 Research Wanted 🤔
It seems super suspicious that my Grandfather, who was part of a early team into Germany before D Day had his records destroyed.
Also super, super suspicious that he died a few years later to a drunken driver plowing his car on the side of a road
Finally, super, super suspicious that his brother was killed a year later by another drunk driver on the side of a road.
Investigate those fire burned records.
What was my Grandfather doing with his small team in Germany before the invasion?
I would like to remind everyone
Have you ever heard the stories of the guys that went into Germany, before D Day?
No
But, guess what, a lot of Americans did and all their records were destroyed.
No mention of it.
Why?
I also have a family member with WW2 service records destroyed. What is the story that you've heard? Where's a place to read-up on this?
See if those records vanished in 1973.
Many did.
My grandfather was in the Battle of the Bulge and later was assigned with his squad to guard Hitler's Eagle's nest. They had captured Hitler's artist (I believe his name was Zaludenk) and he painted portraits of my grandfather and several of his team. He spoke fluent Polish and understood Russian well enough to collaborate & translate with those troops per his commanders orders.
His records were also destroyed in the fire.
One of the more interesting details he told me was, they were ordered to drive, destroy, and sink all the military equipment in the lakes and ocean after the war ended as they were told it wasn't cost effective to ship it back to the US.
I've heard before, that they just dumped brand new Sherman tanks in the ocean.
It was a scam. Dump the equipment then order more to replace it. Profit for the military industrial complex.
War is a racket.
Weird, my father’s service records from Korea were destroyed in a fire.
Wasn't the military famous back then for wanting everything in triplicate?
And then they only kept one copy...
YES! We need to have answers! God bless your Grandfather's Service! 🫡
I have a Vietnam vet friend who had similar problems. He had a frightful time getting his records. They disavowed him like the old Mission Impossible.
The Japs burned the Philippine birth and marriage records on their way out. Scorched earth.
Was he a doctor?
