Yes, I was in a social situation with a few recently and Elon was the topic.
It's the programming. We all know it, none of us ever fell for it. Weak minds are easily changed and influenced by others. We all know about 'peer pressure' as kids ; well, the same thing is still in effect with these people as they grow up. They can't validate themselves, so they have to get it from others.
Always going with the crowd, not standing out ( no mask / vax ), and always parroting what your friends say and do is 100% done in fear of not being accepted by others.
