when my dad died in 1993 they wanted his last check back he got 2 days after he died...and they are getting away with this....times have changed. i wonder if i can collect until i am 150??
My Dad died in 2022 and he died two days short of month end. Social Security pulled his last check out of his Bank Account within a week, I had to scramble to cover outstanding checks. The letter came in the mail after the money was snatched back. Not even prorated for the month. If you don’t live thru the whole month, you don’t get that check.
looks like SSA needs to do some auditing huh..........all these dead suckers need to pay back the system.......or whoever is skimming it
I was questioned once, "How can anyone cheat the SSA", well here's one way & there are others as we will find out.

figures........the honest ones get penalized and the crooks get paid.....when my dad died it was still paper checks lol....

I thought you had to go to the SSA office with a death certificate.
