I have a farmer friend up in the mountains here who gives me eggs on an almost weekly basis. While I eat very healthily during the week, my Saturday morning indulgence is usually beef brisket, ham, or crab cake with two of these eggs over medium, and a slice of Havarti cheese on top... most excellent breakfast!
For being city raised, I'm doing things I never thought I would, and they are turning out okay, by the grace of God. We started raising laying hens and suddenly roosters were brought to us, various reasons, and I learned real quick how to render them for meat. Dudes, I learned there really is dark meat. Also, best chicken soups ever. You'd be amazed at what you can do when you remove fear and trust Him. We love our fresh eggs, built out better coop protection (dang racoons, hawks etc) and are regrowing our flock. With the right rooster, maybe it will start sustaining itself.
In a nutshell, go for it. If you have enough space for chickens or a dairy cow, go for it. If not, find and support somebody local who does.
Dammit. I might have to really raise my own chickens now. Gates and these fags ruined everything they touch

Sounds great. If you can find Esrom cheese it would be perfect :)
Saturday morning menu sounds very healthy. Are you having mimosas or something?
Heh! No, I don't drink alcohol, 36 years clean and sober.
Even healthier.

"You are what you eat," is turning into a dire warning.
