Drug pricing is a total scam. Went to pick up a prescription for my wife after knee surgery, we are both on Medicare with a secondary and a Plan D for drugs. With insurance, Plan D, which we pay a premium for, the cost was over $66.00. I complained and remembered I saw an ad for something called Good Rx on the web. I whipped out my phone and pull up their web site and typed in her prescription and the price was $17.00 !!!!
Why am I paying for a part D plan when this web site is free (redundant question).
Guess what plan I used and saved $50.00 bucks.
Elderly pay too much. I understand that the drug manufacturers have to make money, but something is wrong when one person pays $400 for a drug and another pays $20 for the same drug. The $400 person is clearly subsidizing the $20 person. It’s theft!
At Hospital, how much does this cost. Nurse looks at you as if you're stupid. Sir, you really can't put a price on care for your loved one. Me, no really how much does this cost? Nurse, I don't know you would have to talk to billing dept. Billing dept. Sir it depends. We have to gather all the submittal codes and review your insurance for coverage. Reality. Wife's surgery was 31,000.00 dollars. I had to pay 6,000.00 dollars but we missed the individual deductible by 600.00 dollars. A month later we got hit with 550.00 dollar additional fee. The billing lady was laughing at my wife because we just missed the deductible and it reset Jan 1st. Hahaha, isn't that funny.
So last time he forced hospitals to advertise their pricing to free up the market and force the gouging to stop. Is that still a thing or is that something that will have to be reinstated?
