This article actually talks about a bunch of European countries standing behind Ukraine. It also says:
Zelensky is due in the UK on Sunday as Sir Keir hosts a summit of European leaders to discuss an end to the war between Ukraine and Russia.
I know some pedes here said the meeting looked like a movie, and some said Z was coached on what to say to destroy the deal. I think if he was coached, it was by Starmer and the EU Commission.
Europe doesn't want this war to end. Maybe more correctly, the Deep State doesn't want to lose their playground - or risk Russia overrunning Ukraine and their military finding all the bad things we've talked about.
This summit in the UK will be as much about how to get the US to keep funding the war as it is about trying to figure out what to do if they fail and Russia goes crazy on Ukraine. It will be a complete cluster, and a Trump hate fest. I imagine it will look like a room full of the angry NPC people memes. It will be full of many meaningless words and no action.
Ultimately it will fail when they realize Europe will be overridden if they try to break away from the USA and the money they rely on for defense.
This is how we know the Ukrainians are actually with us and don't back Zelenskyy. The BBC said this at the end of the first article:
In Ukraine, there was broad appreciation for Zelensky holding his ground over what many Ukrainians see as an existential war.
"Trump's administration was so arrogant," one man in Kyiv told the BBC. "When you look at Zelensky's face, you understand that the discussion behind closed doors was not so polite."
If the BBC says that, the opposite is true.
The second article talks about the phone calls Starmer made to Zelenskyy and Trump after the "Rumble in the Oval (my term)" today.
Sources are tight-lipped about the precise nature of the two phone calls Sir Keir made on Friday night, very aware of the acute sensitivities of this delicate situation.
But the UK's diplomatic efforts in recent weeks at least allowed those calls to be possible, allowing the UK to attempt to act as a bridge between both Kyiv and Washington, and Washington and Europe.
To give you a sense of that, Trade Minister Douglas Alexander told BBC Radio 4's Any Questions that not only were the scenes in the Oval Office "deeply troubling and sobering" but demonstrated "in the starkest possible terms" the extent to which "the world we've all experienced for the last 80 years" had changed, adding we that were in "uncharted waters".
He also called President Zelensky the "bravest political leader in Europe since Winston Churchill". (KEK)
And the European Union's top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, said that it had "become clear that the free world needs a new leader. It is up to us, Europeans, to take this challenge." (more delusional Keks)
Kaja Kallas is the EC VP, and the EU Foreign Policy Chief. She is not a fan of President Trump and loves to tell the media what she doesn't like and how a deal can't be made without Europe. She, and the rest of Europe, want the US to keep paying and provide air cover inside Ukraine for any deal. Basically they want WWIII. The USA will not get involved with that.
Today was a complete cluster. Ultimately someone much smarter coached Zelenskyy to use the press conference to try to bully the US into stepping back on the playing field, but instead he sealed his own fate.
I wonder if the games the EU and UK are playing will push Trump and America further away from NATO, the UK, and Europe in general. I think it will nudge him to go ahead and bring back a BUNCH of our military from European bases.
They think they want that now, but when entire towns shut down from a lack of all the money we spend, a ton of rental properties sitting empty, and a sudden need to actually pay for their own defense they will get the picture.
If that happens, NATO could finally break up or be remade for only Europe. We would probably bring all our nukes currently in Europe back to the US, or maybe transfer some to bases outside Europe. We also would start building more Aircraft Carriers and make some other deals for runways and hangers if necessary.
Personally I don't think it will get to the point of leaving NATO, but I do see many more bases closing. I looked a few weeks ago at the UK and from the late 80s to now they closed roughly 90 of 100 of the bases we used. We did it once, and we can certainly go further now.
Personally, I would like to leave NATO. We do not have much in common with the global elite blob governing the European Union. In light of the fact that the global central bankers and their endless wars have wrecked havoc upon the world.
Agreed. I spent 2 yrs in England and 1.5 in Turkey while in the USAF (late '80s-late '90s). I loved it in both places back then, but I won't be going back. Turkey went bad while I was there with the Turks and PKK fighting all the time and the Turkey blowing up my co-worker in a car bomb. It took the UK another 10-15 years after I left to really start going downhill into wokeistan.
I took my wife on a European tour around y2k because she had never been out of the country. We hit somewhere around 20 countries. UK was starting to change, France was - well - France, and the EU was just starting to go to the Euro. Most places we went were changing from great places to visit to dirty crowded places where you will probably have your pockets picked (several people on our tour did but not us). Venice was so bad that when my leg got splashed with water coming over one of the walls I got a rash.
About the only place I enjoyed was Amsterdam, and that was because we had a day off from the tour guide so I took a bunch of the old people on the tour around town and to the sex museum. It was a blast. I'll never forget the Doctor (who was at least 80yo) and his wife continually pushing the button on the box at the Marilyn Monroe exhibit where it blew air that made her skirt blow up. The older women also took pictures of all of the old bronze and bone dildos. Freaking hilarious.
My wife and I were in our early 30s and everyone else was at least 60. Probably because the tour was 27 days and cost a damn fortune, but the company where I worked at the time was bought by a well-known company and I had a crap-ton of stock.
One thing is for certain: the world has been put 100% on fucking notice that PDJT/JDV will not abide fools any longer. There is an urgency and a backbone here that we've not had in a long time.
Fuck the war machine, as a USA citizen I’m tried of my tax dollars paying for this shit. Then after our tax dollars demolish cities after cities we go in and rebuild them with my damn tax dollar while politicians and contractors make bank, at the time our cities are dying.
Good.
They can pay for it then.
Curious how they'll fund both after Trump pulls out of NATO though.
They don't think that far ahead because they haven't had to for about 80 years.
The UK has about 200 tanks.
That would last them about 2 weeks.
My thought exactly!
The BBC put out a few articles about the meeting today at the White House. The first one was pretty interesting. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c3vw9p5lw5xo

Frankly it is delusional.

BTW - where it says "and the Turkey blowing up" somehow it lost a few words. It was supposed to be "and the Islamic Jihad of Turkey blowing up".
I didn't want to edit that comment.
This is why the EU and the leader of every nation-state need a complete change in authority.
One thing is for certain: the world has been put 100% on fucking notice that PDJT/JDV will not abide fools any longer. There is an urgency and a backbone here that we've not had in a long time.
Moar
I maybe join Russia and liberate all of Europe from the cabal. Ukraine first. Just the alliance will cause it all to crumble.
Fuck the war machine, as a USA citizen I’m tried of my tax dollars paying for this shit. Then after our tax dollars demolish cities after cities we go in and rebuild them with my damn tax dollar while politicians and contractors make bank, at the time our cities are dying.
Good. Let them take over and we will pack up and go home.
