Thank you for posting this! Holy fuck it's astounding that this conversation is happening at all just due to a FUCKING HEADLINE. What has happened to this place??
Edit: oh, lookey here at what RFK Jr said in this article "Tens of thousands died with, or of, measles annually in 19th Century America. By 1960 -- before the vaccine’s introduction -- improvements in sanitation and nutrition had eliminated 98% of measles deaths. Good nutrition remains a best defense against most chronic and infectious illnesses. Vitamins A, C, and D, and foods rich in vitamins B12, C, and E should be part of a balanced diet."
Y'all who want to freak out over a headline, see how he pointed out that 98% of measles deaths were eliminated before the vax?
improvements in sanitation and nutrition had eliminated 98% of measles deaths.
That, and oral and IV rehydration, Tylenol for fever reduction, antibiotics for bacterial pneumonia (one of the biggest complications of the measles) and steroids for things like encephalitis (another complication).
But yeah, better diet and improved sanitation did play a part. I just think it's disingenuous to ignore all the other differences of healthcare in the 1800s vs healthcare in the mid 1900s.
Here's the whole article which I think we should read carefully.

Yeah, I did a quick search and found that the measles vaxx was introduced in 1963, and wasn't combined with mumps and rubella until 1971.
Wonder if data exists on 1963-1971?
