Saw it in San Francisco with some liberal co-workers. Wanted to see what all the adulation was about. I found it trite, even boring and the music was mediocre at best.
THANK YOU. I get SO damn tired of the world at large throwing all of the accolades at this insipid piece of rap-infused theater trash. Talk about cultural appropriation. The only reason this fucking POS "musical" got popular is because it hit Broadway at the start of the wokeness wave.
But to be totally fair -- there ARE at least a few VERY talented people who were part of this show who's voices and work I do like, particularly Daveed Diggs and Leslie Odom, Jr. But for the most part, this show was PIFFLE.
And bottom line? Nobody gives any fucks if the producer is virtue-signal canceling a 2026 run at the KenCen. I'm quite sure Trump isn't losing any sleep over it.
FWIW, I found the message is an attempt to rewrite US history by using only non-white actors (save for the British Monarch) and rap music to tell a story that pushes ideas of citizen entitlement without actual accomplishments and usury.
Itâs a drop in a flood of misinformation. I have two kids aged 10 and 12. Most of the content theyâve seen in their lives on historical England is predominately black. I havenât talked to them about it, but I would assume that they donât question it (and why would they?). This is why they crack down so hard on dissent. Weâre allowed to quietly disagree, but not publicly challenge the narrative. And when weâre gone this will become the new accepted version of history.
Think of how when the Rockefellerâs were swapping out natural cures with petroleum pharmaceuticals almost a century ago. It was probably crystal clear to many doctors at the time and they probably pushed back on it. But as they passed, there was no one left with the institutional memory to fight back. Now the doctors are amongst the most brainwashed of them all.
Don't really think the show's fans think the original historic players were black or brown. It just felt like they were pushing the character race swap business just to give white supremacy the air and be woke. I guess I'm old but I liked 1776, the musical way better and it had a most powerful message against slavery in one of its songs.
Most of the Gen Zers don't know history to begin with. I had a 20-something tell me that slavery was still around in the south until the 1965 Civil Rights Act came into play. Knew nothing about the Civil War and Lincoln. Got the 2 mixed up. It was cringe. Sheesh.
My neighbor is always talking how she took her daughter there a few times. Of course shea left AF. She went into depression and we didnât see her for a week after Nov election.
Alexander Hamilton was a turncoat on Constitution. He was FOR a decentralized government and turned FOR a big centralized government after ratification. He was woke and thatâs why the woke crowd loves him and made a mediocre play.

And for the rewrite history reason, I would never see it.

Yup. I actually wonder if Iluminati banker types got to him or he was always a self-serving hypocrite in need of power.
best part of it was King George, that's it.
