Hi frens,
Our oven recently started emitting billows of toxic plastic scented smoke. Pretty gross right? Apparently the control panel or some wiring may have melted. The whole thing has been really eye opening about how many toxic things are in ovens.
All this has left me loath to just go out and buy another toxic oven but it seems really hard to find anything decent. I want to avoid anything that off gases "the chemicals and protective coatings in the oven cavity are exposed to heat for the first time." I don't really want my food exposed to those chemicals each time I cook.
Any recommendations for an oven with little to no off gassing? Or something that's nontoxic?
We bought a Siemens double oven (electric). I was wanting gas but someone had ordered this and returned it because they could not figure out the controls of how to turn it on or use. It was marked down and the right size so we bought it. I have not had ANY issues with this oven including -outgassing. We have had it ten years, and we found it easy to operate even though the first owner did not put the owners manual back in the box.
Thanks for the tip, my friend!
