Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump)
Based on Ontario, Canada, placing a 25% Tariff on “Electricity” coming into the United States, I have instructed my Secretary of Commerce to add an ADDITIONAL 25% Tariff, to 50%, on all STEEL and ALUMINUM COMING INTO THE UNITED STATES FROM CANADA, ONE OF T...
Placing an energy tariff on a country hell bent on becoming energy independent....not very smart. The country has 10 provinces, 10 Premiers, and only 1 has not jumped on the Trump Man Bad train.
My company (we make very large industrial equipment) just had a meeting about the 25% tariff hike yesterday. Purchasing informed us that just ONE order we have in queue will cost an additional $1 Million to import before we perform any work on it.
Now given that it's going to 50%, they must be pulling their hair out crunching the numbers again.
Maybe the WEF leadership shouldn't have been so quick to close so many US factories years ago.
Trump is being nice, they get 100% of their gasoline from us.
The US refines their nasty stuff.
They are too green to refine their own gasoline.
Let's see how that works out for them. They have gotten lazy and overconfident.
Right?
Also, Musk has a direct ear to the President, and his Tesla company actually already proved they can stabilize a country and contenent's power needs when they built that huge battery backup facility for Australia (for free) and then paid itself off with the profits in like a year.
This kind of threat is essentially "Don't you dare do that thing you can do to make me completely unnecessary or I'll melt down on social media!"
The melt downs are entertaining though, and I do hope this prompts a huge US battery power stabilization project like Australia's. I'm actually surprised it wasn't already a thing after Texas had some high profile power issues that a battery system could alleviate - but maybe the timing wasn't right and it needed to be international rather than just a state level example before it starts happening.
Battery stabilization would have made Enron's rolling blackouts scam unprofitable way back when, and will definitely threaten power company profits in places like California that are enjoying huge markups.
