It started with the Canadians when they thought they could join us for free. It would solve their problems,without them doing any work,to clean up their mess.

See, that's the problem: "the Canadians" and what "they" thought. Canada is a nation of some 41 million people, and I don't think the news reports are any more representative of what "they" think than they are of what "we" think. You are reflexively willing to take a collectivist view of a people.
For my part, it was an old subject that the prairie provinces might make a compatible addition to the United States. But I would maintain Quebec would not.
One of the main reasons we are still free, is the incredible amount of work we have done,to preserve our gun rights. Do you know how hard we fought for so many years? It didn't happen by accident

When you start putting some work in,then I would have no problem. But all I see are canadians,who want the easy way out. If we let you join as it is we would all lose everything.

The Canadians I've met are hard workers. And I don't endorse annexation of Canada.
My point still stands. I've read lots of posts by Canadians,wanting the easy way out. If we let them join us,we would have at least 10 more very liberal states,and we would never win an election again.

NAFTA is a good starting point for you to check out. Never wanted to really be a part of the US but wanted to enjoy many of the benefits. Canada has hedged against the USA for a long time.
