Why China Is Building a Thorium Molten-Salt Reactor
China plans to build a thorium-based molten salt reactor in the Gobi Desert in 2025, marking a significant advancement in nuclear power research. Managed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the 10-MW reactor could be operational by 2030 and would provide s...
The technology has been developed for decades but trillions of $'s are saying no.

Man this would be the shit. Is it not actually viable to implement?
It has no real advantages. It must be bred into U-233 in order for it to work. Raw thorium won't run a reactor. And the trace contaminants of U-232 make it hazardous to handle. Down the road, it can be useful as a kind of "hamburger helper" to extend our fissionable resources.
