It was (apparent)... but I thought it was a nice segue into my immediate, gut reaction of disgust brought on from the irony of BS's premise about forgetting about wrongdoings of the past.
Anecdotally, decades ago I distinctly remember ripping into an old college acquaintance who brought up the wsnf BS, telling them that my family/ancestry never once harmed or enslaved another person and that I have not, would not now nor in the future feel an ounce of guilt for this sad little tactic by their kind to perpetuate collective guilt on society. They never brought up that subject in front of me again.
