Other than Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul, Constantine was arguably the most consequential person in the first millennia. He saved the world from tyranny, and saved Christianity from Arianism that had overtaken ~80% of Christianity. Did he have flaws? Of course he did, he was human, but he was instrumental in the spread of Christianity.
I'm not entirely certain that Constantine did a good thing when it comes to the Church. Sure, he stopped the persecution of Christians, but then he flooded the church with pagans. Perhaps he realized that he couldn't stop Christianity with oppression, so he tried to dilute it with fake "christians".
Yes. As a life long Catholic I’m finding out a lot about this character and Emperor Justinian as well. None of it good. He stopped the persecution all right after killing all the Christians the Romans didn’t like and made them change doctrines they really didn’t like. The Ebionites
