Completely ridiculous after knowing what we know now that any of these apps are privacy protected. They're all honeypots for with Black or White hats to spy.

Yup! I worked for a datacomm manufacturer back in the day. They made a 3DES encryptor box. NSA approached them and offered to pay them to install a backdoor key to let them snoop. I suspect the same for any secret-squirrel app.
