The only shooting event in Greenland with German personal was between Norwegian and Danish trappers on East coast of Greenland. Germany had a weather station with just a few personal.
US never engaged any German personal in Greenland.
The Bear of Oakland patrolled Greenland in WW2. Built about 1878. Patrolled Alaska as a revenue cutter under Captain Mike Healy. Later used by Admiral Byrd in his expeditions. Apparently had been around a lot of ice.
yup, some months for sure. I lived in Nuuk and we had no ships for around Nov to Mar depending on weather conditions. This was due to pack ice.
Must have been a heck of a ride in that ship. I been out on open water up there, can get pretty nasty. First colored Captain 'Hell roaring Healy' haha :)
Bear of Oakland is a wooden sailing and steam vessel that was built in 1874 in Scotland for seal hunting in northern waters.
Some facts from the ship's history:
In 1884, Bear participated in the rescue of the Greeley expedition, during which 18 of the 25 polar explorers died, and 7 were rescued and brought to the mainland.
From 1885 to 1929, Bear was engaged in patrolling the coast of Alaska.
In 1926, the ship was transferred to the city of Oakland in California for use as a museum, while changing the name-now the inscription "Bear of Oakland"was on board.

It's misdirection ya'll. Focus!
A bigger play possibly! What goes on inside of Greenland? Why would they need to be "protected"? Are the locals aware?
Questions i am asking.
North of Greenland but you on right track fren
“Saved”
Would rather be speaking German after ww2 than the Israeli shitshow we’ve gotten
Agreed.

But we did build a major base and patroled the waters and airspace.....
Patrolled waters ?,really. Through the pack ice ? By plane yes but so did Denmark. Denmark was only one with boots on ground in NE.
Several bases in fact. A few on SE coast even. All shut down due to conditions and global power structure changes.
Much to this issue period but lets not get snowed by pretty words and half truths. Truth works both ways.
Bottom line, Let the Greenlandic people decide on their timeline.

Somebody had the idea to turn it into a restaurant . Bear said hell no, and sank to the bottom of the sea.
But now found again, forget where I seen but recall reading she was found. :)
Unfortunately, I don't believe you know who the Nazis truly were, and why they were fighting.
Trump has stated that Greenland has rare earth metals! I believe it has something to do with COVFEFE! Cobalt, Vanadium and Iron! Blocking 5G control!
