The proposed DOGE rebate is based on currently paid tax savings. If you didn't pay Income Tax during the period they are saving the money in, you won't get a check. This is NOT a stimulus check. Lets hope the plan includes a way to get as much money as possible back from all the decades of theft.

I'm retired. 53 years in the work force and got ripped off for all of them. Biden gave SS a 2.5% raise and told Trump "good luck with the price of eggs". I'm glad that income taxes will probably go away. The savings for them will be huge and life long. If anyone needs the 5K its the retired people. Young people don't understand that the boomers got taken for a ride for their whole life.
Lol, bro, I'm in between Boomers and Gen Z... my parents are boomers, at least Boomers had the USD value and paced earnings w/ cost of living.
Imagine leaving college w/ an advanced degree. Getting an "amazing" job @ $50k - $60k/year, and then staring down the barrel of the cheapest home in your area being $500k - $600k.
Most Boomers I know were able to survive, thrive and retire on a single income household. There's absolutely no chance of that in today's economy for 95% of them/us.
Every generation was taken for a ride... Centennials having it worse than everyone. But the last 20 years have been an absolute clusterfuck of rising prices, reduced wages, and brutal taxes.
Economic fallout and unemployment spikes in the late 80's was bad. But that's essentially been the existence of Gen Z.
You must have known the upper crust of the boomers.
Indeed, I retired early at 59, started my SS at 62, returned to work after moving back to the USA at 64 and resumed work. Even with those missing years in the work force, I'm in my 46th year of paying into the system. I started working at 14...
The generation before the boomers weren't financially burdened by taxes like we boomers are. SS was originally 1% on the first 3,000 a year. In other words, the earliest SS tax maxed out at 30 bucks a YEAR.
Due to Inflation, I see no end in sight to working.
You nailed that fern
