Fact Sheet: In Shakespeare's time acting was a profession only open to boys and men. Women were acting elsewhere in Europe but they were not allowed to perform in public theatres in England until 1660. They weren't dressed in DRAG. They were men playing women's roles. There is a big difference.

Did you ever read the book King Rat? One of the characters in the book is a POW who plays the female roles in the plays they put on and he is somewhat of a celebrity in the prison camp. It is one of my favorite books..I've read it at least 3 times.

The federal government should not fund the arts with our tax money.
