It's not retarded. It's a lot of girls that love horses, and that don't have the opportunity to own or ride one.

You're probably right; modification of model horses and competing in model horse shows comes to mind.
What other equestrian pursuits that don't involve a live horse come to mind? I think there are mechanical horses you can ride, but they are few and far between.
