It is part of her training- LGBT peeps aren't allowed to like conservative/libertarian politicians because it violates some of the terms of their club membership- they don't want to get kicked out of the club

Back during the 1980s she would have been discharged immediately. Those days were the don't ask don't tell policy. We all knew who was gay; we didn't have to ask.
