Can't help but notice in my old family photos how much fitter and leaner my ancestors were.
Part of it was military service, and part of it was manual labor.
But I think the biggest factor is the crap food that surrounds us today.
They also dressed a helluva lot better, even for the most mundane activities.
Plus no blue-haired freaks.
So true. Even people on the lower end of the monied spectrum had self respect. They might have only one overcoat, but it was a decent one and they made it last.
