Loyalty isn't a government requirement - people can be politically ambivalent and perfect employees with respect for their workplace and management structure. In fact, I fully support anyone who doesn't care about any specific politician and doesn't twist their job duties towards their personal belief structure because that can (and has been) abused by other politicians.

This issue here is a simple matter of poor work ethic. There aren't a lot of workplaces where employees can intentionally undermine management and remain employed to continue trying to sabotage the company. The executive branch, at its core, is run like a company - or should be - which is why it makes sense to me to have businessmen running it instead of lawyers and prosecutors. This person was fired with cause because they don't handle management well and hurt the company, not because of loyalty. We've all worked some place we didn't fit, its better for everyone to move on especially if the fit is so bad workplace sabotage is a problem.
