Yup ...they just got cornholed good.

Especially the part about Japan taking all those orders away from them, with the icing of them being higher cost as well.

You know how much the Japanese and Chinese love each other to begin with...

This will force the Chinese to buy and use non-chinese vessels in order to avoid the $1.5M tax per port...

That is an interesting point. It seems like Japan's economy has suffered for decades (if there's any truth in the world economic news) and they will need a strong economy if they are going to stand against China without much US military support.
