So that means ~62 miles is where space begins and therefore, they did not reach space.
Oh, they got there. All you need to do is get over the wire. It is all a very gradual matter. Satellites will orbit at 100 km altitude, but not for long. Bezos would not go to the trouble of developing a system that could not satisfy international standards of where "space" begins.
They got to 66 miles. I'm not sure where the previous poster got their 61 miles from.
66 miles works out to be 106 km. 61 miles works out to be 98 km.
