I agree. But it's still what it is. Until the US can start making up the difference, much of our food supply comes from outside the country.
If those tariffs that Trump paused ever really go into effect (doubtful), then people are going to see how much of their groceries come from other countries.
The same with things like toiletries and clothes and car parts and things they need to go about their day.
We could all become Amish or Buddhist monks or something, taking a vow of poverty, I suppose. But most people like their stuff. And, you know, eating. 🤷♀️
Well, I guess that would be right if we viewed tariffs as a consumption tax.
I don't know that calling it by a different name would make me feel any better when the money is coming out of my pocket either way.
Consumption is a choice. The .gub jamming its greedy hand into your pocket while sticking a gun in your ribs is not.
