Anyone who wanted to create a believable NT would absolutely need to be intimately familiar with the OT inside and out. The NT is about fulfilling prophecies of the OT, and, making claims of future prophecies. Claims that would come true in Josephus's War of the Jews. The only historian who covered Israel during the Siege of Jerusalem (70 AD).
The point of concern is if Josephus's historic account of the time period, which Biblical Scholars swear by and have for centuries+, was written alongside the Gospels. Thereby making the prophecies appear omniscient only after the fact.
