In German, "Kind" is a neuter noun, and the definite article used with it is "das" (the). The plural of "Kind" is "Kinder", and the definite article used with the plural is also "die" (the). Therefore, the correct translation is "die Kinder" (the children).
The Pope had little boy lover symbols on some of his vestments. Maybe the symbolism was his downfall...
We use Kindergarten as the word for pre-first grade
