They don't do these things for no reason, and the symbols/meanings have been documented for ages. Some are old, others are new depends what they do. Going to Catholic Mass and taking communion is akin to this. The priest going around the alter, waving the incense around with the 3 candles at different heights around, symbolizing the planets around the sun... stuff like that. Right in front of us, but they don't teach unless you ask.
It's also weird considering how Jesus rejected material and wealth, living minimalisticly only for his church to have ultra lavish rituals in ultra wealthy Rome.
