Well, Whatever. I am not 'throwing it out' as some 'sinister plot'
Re: PAperklipz: I believe that the Europeans had had enough killing, and brought some of the Germans (and Ukrainians, BTW) to America to save the lives of 'valuable' people (As you say: Scientists, who worked in 'civilian projects' etc.) who were probably gunna get killed otherwise. That was the operation. I am not even arguing that.
However, that was not the only operation, as people tried to get out of Dodge via whatever contacts they had. (As they will again BTW. ). I could talk about the human pipeline to South America, or Australia or New Zealand or whatever. And that's not my opinion either. I know people who had NAzi contacts 'back home' during WW2, and are living out their lives quietly, right in the circle of acceptable oldies now, just as I know people who were active in IRA - when they had had enough - they came to New Zealand, and I dunno, go to the pub, or keep a horse, or get into gardening. Sing some songs. Drink something.
The point is: I was expressing what is the Russian perspective: That Nazis are attacking Russia - Again - and they believe that it won't stop until those holding that ideology are all dead. (i.e., denazification). They can historically show mixed armies of Europeans attacking them with at least once-every-hundred-years regularity, BTW.
Recently, Apti Alaudinov was interviewed by Patrick Lancaster, and was asked: "When will the war end?" and the answer was "When we take Berlin". That is not the official position, however. That's the general's sentiment (and based on historical facts). But, he is expressing the sentiment from many Russians, who think Putin is playing around like a pussy.
The Russian position tends to be truthful - the Kremlin propaganda is usually by omission. That is: The government are very careful what they say - if it is even remotely factual, you can be sure that it is well-verified.
Anyway.
Nuland had a sore (because they lost to the Red Army) grandaddy in the Ukrainian SS
So did Blinkie
Maybe those grandpas weren't paperclipped - maybe they were just lucky to put on civvies and hide amongst refugees. Who knows. What difference at this point does it make?
My only issue is Operation Paperclip, which traduces Germans who were NOT Nazis by any reasonable consideration. The rest I have no issue with, so I don't intend to argue over it.
