Well, Al Capone -- most notorious gangster in America in his day -- wasn't nabbed for his many murders, robberies and rackets, He was put away on Tax Evasion charges.

So yeah, Adam Schitt is guilty of far more. But nailing him on "lightweight stuff" can bring him down just as effectively, if done right.
