Received our 2025 property tax assessment (Central Indiana). It increased by 30%. Numerous local groups are lit up with pissed off homeowners. Is this the start of "You will own nothing and be happy" ?

A 30% increase for many homeowners, on top of a previous 20-30% increase = unable to afford the house you live in.

I wouldn't object to paying for services, but we're (rural, northern ontario) charged for things we don't get or want. We're propping up a failing municipality as they continue to waste money and hire more upper management.

It definitely feels like an attempt to persuade us to leave.
