Yup. Years ago, most kids got measles and chickenpox and they didn't die or suffer long-lasting ill effects. If one kid had measles or chickenpox, parents would have their kids visit/play with him or her so they could catch ghem and "be over with them asap". (Same with mumps, with a desire to have them as young as possible because older boys and men could become infertile.)
Well as a person who actually grew up in the 50’s we didn’t really have “parties “ to catch measles- chicken pox occasionally- however red measles weren’t fun- I had them— mumps were much worse— lots of pain in throat/neck however I will testify that having whooping cough -(pertussis-caught from illegal alien coworkers) in my 50’s was the worst disease I’ve ever had— was vaccinated for it but you know what!!! Vaccinations don’t protect you for more than a few years— however— I’ll never get “whooping cough “ again 😂
