I don't know u/purkiss80 personally, but he is Q family. No, this isn't about Q but I'm hoping for an exception, please. Also hoping if the mods allow it to stay, our awesome prayer frens can do their thing.
I pray to my Lord and Savior to expedite purkiss' application for refugee status here in the USA. I pray to God he and his family remain safe until that occurs. I also pray that every single person at risk is also quickly approved and moved.
Amen
Almighty Creator of All, including each of us in South Africa and the United States and these parts of Your creation, Thy will be done regarding our Fren u/purkiss80. We give you praise that you have set your servant and his family in this time for a purpose and praise that Your loving hand keeps him and his family in Your care.
Thank you for tools that can be used for good. Guide us to seek Your wisdom first and to follow your guidance. In Jesus' holy name, Amen. ๐

Asylum can also be sought if youโre already in the U.S. and fear persecution, but you must apply within one year of arrival and prove a well-founded fear.
Residency and Physical Presence: Live in the U.S. for at least 30 months of the 5 years (or 18 months of 3 years for spouses). Reside continuously in the state or USCIS district for 3 months before applying. Eligibility Criteria: Be 18 or older. Demonstrate good moral character (no serious criminal record). Pass an English language test and a U.S. civics test (unless exempt due to age or disability). Take the Oath of Allegiance.
Application Process: File Form N-400 with USCIS ($725 fee, with possible exemptions). Submit fingerprints, photos, and supporting documents (e.g., Green Card, tax returns). Attend a biometrics appointment and naturalization interview.
Dual Citizenship Consideration: The U.S. allows dual citizenship, so you can retain South African citizenship. South Africa requires you to apply for retention of citizenship before acquiring U.S. citizenship to avoid automatic loss. This involves: Completing DHA-529 and DHA BI-1664 forms. Submitting proof of South African citizenship (birth certificate, ID). Obtaining a letter confirming you havenโt yet acquired U.S. citizenship from the U.S. Embassy. Paying a fee (e.g., $25 in the U.S. or ยฃ25 in the UK). Processing takes 4-6 weeks; youโll receive a Letter of Retention. Use your South African passport to enter/exit South Africa and your U.S. passport for the U.S. to avoid legal issues.

What you want to bet the SA govt won't allow them to retain citizenship.
Unsure, as I am very new in my efforts to understand this.
I do see parallels between this and the California (Democrats) calls for Reparations, though.

Well, I'm not quite sure if you mean the Afrikaaner farmers coming here on refugee status or the reason they must flee resembling Cali reparations (Cali was NEVER a slave state so no, I don't get that one) but I merely would like prayers for purkiss. Being new, you aren't aware that he has stood beside us all for the 4 very long years of Obiden - steadfast and resolute - even though he isn't American (yet ๐). He helped many of us keep the faith even in the darkest hours. He is one of our prolific posters and he has always found highly informative information. He's MAGA through and through even being SA.
I'd like him kept safe until he can get accepted and move here. I'd like his acceptance expedited. Pres Trump would only be gaining another unwavering patriot. Have a blessed day ๐ฅฐ.
EDIT: Being new, you may want to peruse his many, many posts to glean information. Just look for u/purkiss80 ๐ Happy reading

The South African Constitutional Court has ordered that citizens do not lose citizenship if they become citizens of another country. They have not yet been asked what the status of refugees leaving the country will be. Since they get paid by the ANC government they may change their collective mind if approached.
