Much discussion has been happening in regard to autism; cause, diagnosis, prevalence, etc. I became aware that our local municipal water supply is dosed with copper sulfate, which is "not recommended for potable water" by EPA (but apparently still legal). I noticed after moving three years ago that in a very small area, about a radius of 100 yds from our house, several homes had children who are likely categorized as being "on the spectrum" of autism. I began to wonder if the copper sulfate in the water could have something to do with it, since adding a conductive metal to a human, particularly during fetal and childhood development, could seemingly be an issue with their developing brains. I recently found that you can't even obtain the simple number of students in a given school who are diagnosed as being "on the spectrum" due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). FERPA protects the confidentiality of student education records. A simple number of students at a school would not violate any confidentiality! This screams to me that there is a concerted effort to prevent information that would help reveal the cause of autism from being collected by anyone trying to investigate it.
