He was behind the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1849 where Mexico ceded all land from the Rio Grande to Cali, and the US $15m.
I have a hard time believing after the blood and treasure we spent acquiring it he'd give it back before dying a few months later, but weirder schnit has happened I suppose.

75!!! Sounds like you got the pro-American version of history for sure, probably with a big dose of "America can do no wrong" thrown in as a chaser. I certainly did, almost a decade later. Propaganda can go both ways, something we need to keep in mind.
