Hey u/Slechta5614, I had to put a pet down recently, and the night that happened, as I lay down, the spirit of my pet came to me to lie on my chest, and thank me for the care and love I gave.

It was only briefly, a few seconds, but very vivid and clear and certain, just long enough to ensure I knew the truth. Then the spirit of my pet was whisked away. But in those few moments i was comforted with assurances that our adventures are not over and we will have many adventures in heaven. We will live many lives as we will, and when we pass it won't be real death, but like an immersive video game and returning to the world. We will talk about things like 'do you remember how hard that was the first time we died?' referring to how grievous it is that we lose them, and we will laugh and hug knowing it won't ever be that way again. So much more was conveyed in those few moments, but this is all i can share now.

As my pet's spirit was whisked away, from the other direction i noticed Christ there, ensuring my pet made it off to heaven where we'll meet again. He noticed me noticing Him, and had a surprised look of 'I didn't expect you to notice me! hardly anyone does!' look on his face. And then he beamed with a great big smile, and gave me the two thumbs up as he zipped off in the direction my pet's spirit went, leaving me in joy and tears with two spirited thumbs up in return, in sincere and deep thanks for this most excellent experience.

I won't ever forget the powerful and unexpected experience, and i was given it to share with you and others who love and cherish their pets: treat them with care and love, and get to heaven, because you will find them there. And no, it's not wrong to put your pets down when the time comes and you do it out of sincere honor and love for them.
