Deodorant used to be more like a power, but know you put that stuff on and it's like a plastic barrier that last for days. You can hardly scrub if off with soap and water.
Make your own. I use 190 proof alcohol (Everclear) mixed with essential oils. Stuff works way better than store-bought deodorant, too. If you do something that makes you sweat, just squirt a little more on afterwards, and the sweaty stink disappear. The booze kills the germs, too. And it doesn't smell like booze, due to the essential oils. I can provide a recipe if anyone is interested.
Here you go! A recipe, plus some info on essential oils. I hope it's not info overload!
½ cup (4 oz) Everclear (or other 190 proof alcohol)
40 drops BO Be gone essential oil blend
1 tsp vegetable glycerin
1 tsp apple cider vinegar or white vinegar (optional)
½ tsp Caprylyl Glucoside (optional)
Essential Oils (optional, see below)
Mix everything together (I do this in a measuring cup).
You need amber or frosted glass spray bottles for it, and make sure they are sanitized. I run my through the dishwasher, but you can do hot soapy water, then sanitize them with rubbing alcohol. Make sure they’re dry when you pour in the mixture.
You can try to pour it directly into the bottle (that’s what I do) but you can also buy little funnels so you don’t spill any. I do it over the sink and rarely spill.
For the essential oils, the mixture I typically use is tea tree (antibacterial properties), sandalwood (love the scent, and it’s also antibacterial), and ylang-ylang (on its own has been found to be particularly effective against S. hominis, one of the main bacteria linked to perspiration odor)
Recommended essential oils:
Patchouli essential oil has been shown to inhibit a wide variety of bacteria, including those that directly cause body odor. These include several from the Staphylococcus genus: S. hominis, S. epidermidis and S. haemolyticus. Patchouli can also be combined with other oils for even more potent antibacterial effects.
Ylang-ylang essential oil on its own has been found to be particularly effective against S. hominis, one of the main bacteria linked to perspiration odor. As well, a mixture of lavender oil, clary sage oil, and ylang ylang oil was found to be effective against an even wider variety of pathogenic bacteria.
Sandalwood essential oil has shown antibacterial activity against many gram-positive bacteria associated with body odor, including S. hominis and S. epidermidis. Additionally, in a study of antibacterial essential oil blends, sandalwood and patchouli were identified as contributing some of the strongest antibacterial activity.
Lavender essential oil is effective against many of the smelly bacteria on our skin, including the odor-producing Staphylococcus species8. Its calming aroma can also help decrease excessive sweating (hyperhydrosis) caused by stress.
Sweet orange essential oil is reported to inhibit the growth of many different kinds of bacteria and fungi, including S. aureus, another bacteria that can cause unpleasant odor.
A note on any sort of citrus oils… they will go bad within six months, and continuing to use some of them after that (like lemon essential oil) can make you ill. I tend to steer away from citrus oils for that reason.
One more note: Unless you like pain, don't spray it on right after you shave your underarms. It will burn! It doesn't bother me, but some might find it uncomfortable. I like this mix... I can't use the baking soda based mixes because it makes me break out in a rash.
I'm sorry to say my fren that I cannot be trusted in the vicinity of any alcohol that can be converted to drink.
I tried that when people were saying it could be used to make Hand Sanitizer. As close as the Everclear got to my hands was on the other side of a glass.
Since deodorant has more (aluminum derivatives) than that, I don’t think it would make a consistent argument.
I rarely wear store bought deodorant.

I would like that recipe, thanks!

There is likely a toxicity difference between aluminum that is rubbed on skin, ingested, or injected directly into the bloodstream.
Stop eating deodorant & crayons. And for God's sake don't inject them
