See Romans 11, there are two groups of people referred to as Israel - Physical Israel and Spiritual Israel : Spiritual Israel includes some physical descendants of Israel (also known as Jacob) as well as any Gentiles who Jesus chooses. Romans 11 speaks primarily of physical Israel and Paul's heart to see them join spiritual Israel, but also refers to we who are grafted in branches of a tree he (Paul) refers to as a cultivated olive tree.

Yes, exactly!! I know this and your spot on. Jacob's name means supplanter. God changed it to Israel, which means A Prince with God. Jacob = physical, Israel = spiritual.
