There are plenty of worldly rewards for attacking another tribe. That’s why attacks have been near-constant in human history.

That’s a lot of killing and raping from “minority power players”. If enough neighbors join in the killing and raping, do they become majority players?

Because in order to cause a war: You don’t need that many people.
Let’s say 20 people in your neighborhood started going around causing trouble.
They could do a lot of damage on their own.
