Space movies are fine, the problem is that we have an audience that can't sit to watch anything past 10 seconds anymore, doesn't help the artstyle that Pixar has been doing of late, looks frankly, like shit. It also doesn't help at least for me personally, American entertainment, is just trash, doesn't matter what the medium is, it is just freaking trash.
Elio's failure is the audiences payback for how dirty they did the live action lilo and stitch. We showed up for inside out 1 because we trusted Disney back in the day to tell a damn good story… we showed up for remakes and sequels because we trust the source material a little… there is not trust for Disney or any of its affiliates to tell a good original story today… and lilo and stitch was a lat straw for many… just a theory.
Its not the space theme - its the style of animation. It looks cheap. Why would I pay expensive tickets for something that looks cheap?
Also, even if the movies good - Disney will need amazing reviews to confirm it. We are not taking chances anymore.
So congratulations, Disney. You've damaged your brand so badly that you could potentially release an Oscar worthy film and no one would want to see it. People don't want to give you money and are going elsewhere.
Damn the comments are savage
