Home Depot and Lowe's throughout the valley have lots of illegals that hang out in and around the parking lots and have for decades.
Contractors and people looking for workers come pick many of them up throughout the day.
A decent amount also shoplift for tools in those locations and also steal from homeowners that hire them and job sites and sell stuff on Offer up or at nearly pawn shops or flee markets.
I'm glad the stores are cooperating with ICE. This will reduce crime around those areas significantly.
Here in NJ, there was a huge parking lot in the town where I grew up, that was filled with illegals starting early in the morning. Contractors and restaurant owners would routinely pick them up for day labor. Since it's a "Sanctuary" state, I don't know if we'll ever get rid of them. The good news is many have self deported.
So the term you'd be best using is a "border state"
A border town is a city or town located immediately adjacent to an international border, often serving as a key point of passage, trade, cultural exchange, and immigration between two nations.
Phoenix is not terribly closer than Texarkana from border and the percentage of illegal aliens there may be even higher than Phoenix at an estimated 5% vs Phoenix's 3.5%.... but Texas is also a border state unlike your other examples.
Hmm, sounds like if they aren't illegal then they should start a legitmate contracting business instead of scabbing over hard working tax paying small businesses.
The home depot near me, there's always a group of Mexicans out front. It's been an open secret for as long as I've lived here, if not longer. You can hire them for odd jobs as long as you have the tools. I've never hired them, but i know people who have.
The more pressure they put on the illegals, the more will self deport. Squeezing them at all of these work sites, construction, retail, restaurant, farming, puts pressure on not only the illegals but also their employers.
I recently noticed that the "day laborers" at the 2 home depots near me have shifted from Latino to African...not sure what this means- I'm in a burb south of Seattle
I'm in Phoenix.

When I lived in LA the rumor was these day laborers would try to fall off a ladder while on your job just to extort a revenue stream.
That’s Rough! And Rich!

Oh, border town. I got you.
Phoenix isn't considered a bordertown.
It's over 150 miles away from the Mexican border via the shortest route and almost a 3-hour drive.
In border towns in Arizona would be:
Nogales, AZ-Nogales, Sonora
Douglas, AZ-Agua Prieta, Sonora
San Luis, AZ-San Luis Río Colorado
Lukeville, AZ-Sonoyta, Sonora
I understand it's not quite border town but compared to Oregon or Washington or Texarkana TX, it's a lot closer.

Oh correct. Border state.
Great!
We, The People, hereby authorize them to arrest Katie Hobbs and her merry band of cartel goons ...
Amen.

Oh, but they are illegal my precious...
LOL
Flash mob, smash and grab looters are destroying retail as well. The difference is those “urban youths” are American.
Just bunch of thieves
I couldn't figure out either.
I go to Home Depot, no one asked me to give him a job???

I have never seen them let alone hire them.

Interesting. Thanks for the info.
wait, so a business must authorize police to enter their parking lots to make arrests?
Sounds like it.
