Some might find this question dumb but I have to ask... why is was he able to serve in our armed forces in first place? Please understand that this isn't me trying to downplay his service to the United States! I have mad respect, it's more of me trying to understand why we let people who aren't legal citizens serve. The US Government sucks at vetting imigrants but we will let them serve?
He was a green card holder. They have always been allowed to join the military since they are on their way to becoming citizens.
What I'm curious about is why he never became a citizen? His family should have helped him through the process.
I think there's a lot of info missing from the story. They began to lose me when they said the Purple Heart was "for his heroism" It's for injury in service.
If you are going to watch the video you will see where he says that 38% of the US armed forces are green card holders...
As someone who is familiar with both processes personally, this should not exist either as a prominent statistic.
I am both from a long line of natural citizen veterans and have also been familiarized through the naturalization process on a very personal level. The strongest nation on the Earth should not so heavily rely on military rank and fodder to the tune of 1/3 being in the pending process.
Chalk this up to a failed system and not the individuals but the time alloted and individual cases often lean towards a higher percentage being residual. Essentially, there is no excuse for this math.
Just my 2c.... despite this soldier's individual case which seems justified, the problem should not exist in the first place like so many others. So the crux of the issue is congruent with the video title: We need immigration reform
Patriotism has been dropping for decades and so has the prestige of serving in the military.
This is one of the main underlying issues undoubtedly.
Foreigners also use the military as a ways of paying for their tuition and avoiding student loans. IMO people need to serve at least 8 years in the military before they pay for their tuition, and not the regular 4.
I wholeheartedly concur with both sentiments. There should be zero foreign student aid IMO. If schools want to use their own coin to draw in potential alumni then fine, but zero tax dollars going to any avenue of paying noncitizens tuitions.
Additionally, if you correct the first problematic pejorative you mentioned then the time served gap issue would most likely correct itself in time.
Do you trust the news to give you the real whole story?
I haven't seen them give the sheeple anything without their agenda being served yet, and their agenda right now is to stop the deportation of their new voters.
The don't even get a toe in the door on me. I see the agenda, and know slippery slopes are what they used to send this country straight to hell.
They don't give a rat's ass about this guy. He is not their reason for calling for reform. They want to codify their illegals. Lawfare and legislation is the tool the cabal will wield as long as they own the political class, and they damned sure own them.
They do have a fast track to citizenship.
An equitable understanding.

infantry is cannon folder
who cares if they are citizens?
I am sorry, it wouldn't let me watch the video; so I just asked the question. Thank You for the clarification, most appreciated.

If his parents r legal citizens he automatically is for under 18...
I think it's BS that a non American citizen can join our military with a green card.
I agree with what you're saying but imo citizenship should come first.

They always get the sheep to beg for their 'changes', and then their toadies in government can deliver what they want.
