Kurt Russell is still alive. I don’t know for sure about Snake Plitzken because I think 25 years have passed since I saw the movie.
No, in the movie everyone he ran into or talked to kept thinking the character was dead. They would talk about Snake as a famous person but did not realize he survived. A cut/removed scean in the beginning of the movie had a heist go bad and Sanke was captured. Thus, all the criminal organizations thought he died in the heist. Thus the phrase " Snake Pliskin, Thought he was dead ". being used throughout the movie. Jesus you kids watch a golden movie. Although, it was new to me growing up. I loved Escapef rom New York. What a great movie.
