Dershowitz stated that it was a therapeutic massage by a masseuse and not by Virginia Roberts (Giuffre) or anyone underage. He also stated that his wife was present at Epstein's house at the time. Giuffre, however, had accused Dershowitz of sexual abuse in connection with Epstein. In 2022, Giuffre dropped her defamation lawsuit against Dershowitz and stated that she "may have made a mistake" in identifying him. Dershowitz, in turn, dropped his defamation suit against Giuffre.
