I watch them on GRIT TV. I love all the old John Wayne movies. All the old actors like Yul Brenner and Gary Cooper. Bonanza, the Rifleman and Gunsmoke were all favorites.
Mom got me into the Westerns and during my childhood they were still a viable genre at the box office, while Gunsmoke was still running on TV. Mom (and Dad) recently passed but If I turn her TV on, Ill bet its tuned to GRIT.
is it because old people sit in front of the t.v. much more than young people?
is it because gunsmoke is in syndication and free to watch if one has a t.v., but a subscription is needed for disney? Is it because people pirate disney to avoid the cost, soit doesn't get counted?
Or is it because this country turned a corner and all anyone wants is to watch black and white westerns?
We will find out very soon, because netflix and other platforms will be making a shit ton of low budget black and white 20 minute westerns very soon. If that is what the paying viewing public wants, that is what they will get.
very interesting economy, the film biz. hollywood.
i love those shows. hope they make more! I'd pay for it!
I only watch older stuff, mostly older movies. Any new entertainment is dead for me. Last movie I saw in a theater was top gun 2. It’s not gonna get better for a long time if ever again.
My husband was one of those streaming Gunsmoke along with the Rifleman.
Me too. There's nothing else worth watching.

Oh yeah my grandpa has it playing in the background all day so he doesn't have to remember the shitty modern world we're in
I was watching the Rookie till last night. In season 2 there are 2 gay men kissing and I had to turn it off...
Yikes!
there is over 80 years of content online there is no reason to watch poorly made entertainment

Interesting. I went back to watching the Western's about six years ago. Now, take a look, a real good look at the "women" in those westerns.
Ya, stopped watching them too. If you know, you know.
I'm partial to THE RIFLEMAN myself......seen each episode dozens of times.
I Bet Andy and Barney came in a close second.
I record all the old west TV shows, Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, Bonanza, Rawhide, Big Valley and High Chaparral. My DVR can store 200 hours and it's full!
