Getting rid of cursive has been deliberately done to, among many other reasons, prevent people from reading our founding documents and constitution. It's far more difficult to automatically censor pics of cursive written documents rather than plain print. It has to be more than just apathy.
If our children don't have to utilize cursive handwriting, then why do our taxes keep going up to pay for less and less education? Cursive writing is a way for kids to utilize parts of their brains and it only helps them learn complex concepts. We should demand our educators teach cursive handwriting, even if the kids never pick up a pencil once they graduate from high school.
I hear they are going to teach it again in Michigan schools. I taught in our Christian School for many years, and when the public school stopped teaching, I kept right on teaching cursive because I knew how important it was. They never should have stopped, but I am glad to hear it will be taught again.
Apparently there are brain pathways that are activated and used when we right in cursive. It’s an excellent tool for learning! I’m glad to see it brought back.

The main reason they did away with cursive is because it is unique to you. Same reason why they changed our medicare numbers a few years back. It was your social security number and therefore unique to you. Now it is a random number they can give anyone.
A capital cursive A is not correct on the picture. The news sucks.
Palmers method was taught to third graders. Capital A written practically the same as a lower case a just differ in size.

YES I homeschooled 8 kids. The olders helped. We unschooled..lol hillbilly ways
I learned in 2nd grade, and taught my kids when they were in 2nd grade. I think it is more elegant than calligraphy!
